Cadence: senior 2012

Cadence is such a cutie, so the Huntsville Botanical Gardens was the perfect choice for her bright personality. As soon as I saw the polka dot rain boots she brought along, I knew that her session was going to be a lot of fun, and I was right. She was totally game for doing crazy stuff like jumping in puddles, posing with butterflies, and navigating those vine mazes meant for two year olds. She couldn’t be more easygoing and all-around great to photograph! It was also nice having her boyfriend, Benji, there to make her giggle (he makes an appearance in a few of the pictures as well). Cadence, I wish you all the best at Alabama this fall, and I loved spending the afternoon with you!

Carmen + Elliott: engaged

After spending a Sunday with them, I am so excited for Carmen and Elliott’s wedding this fall. Last weekend I drove to Florence to shoot their engagement session, starting off at Deibert Park. I’ve never been before, but Carmen assured it me that it was beautiful… and she was right! I am absolutely obsessed with the red and white barn in the first few photos. Next we headed to Sheffield, where Elliott’s high school baseball field is, for the second part of the session. Despite what they may think, both Carmen and Elliott were super photogenic, and definitely troopers… you can’t tell, but it was HOT outside. Oh well- anything in the name of art! Anyways, these two University of Alabama alums are as sweet as can be and pretty much the epitome of everything I love about what I do. Carmen and Elliott, I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek, and I can’t wait to get to know you both even more in the coming months!

Claire & Scott’s wedding

I’ve adored getting to know Claire and Scott, so finally getting to witness their “I do’s” was very special. As you might recall from their engagement post, Claire and Scott met in their high school library, which is why it was perfect to have part of their engagement session there. Their wedding venue, Carnegie Visual Arts Center in Decatur, is equally appropriate- it used to be a library! Everything about their wedding reflected the pair’s personalities… the small, intimate feel, the artwork everywhere (and really awesome heritage quilts), the DIY decorations, so on and so forth. Claire opted out of the getting ready pictures, so everything was already set up when I came to the church with my assistant Kailey around 5 for some group shots. We both immediately fell in love with the atmosphere. Claire and Scott were married in a super-artsy venue among their family and close friends… the entire thing just felt perfect, and I’m so glad I got to be there to document it.
