Rosemary Beach in Organic Gardening magazine

This past fall, I had the opportunity to do something I don’t normally do. As you’ve probably gathered if you’re here on my website, my main focus is people, but I will do editorial work from time to time as well and really enjoy it. That’s why I was so excited when I was contacted by Organic Gardening magazine in August. They were planning a piece on Rosemary Beach, needed photos for the article from a local photographer, and found me.  At first I was a little surprised that a magazine about gardening wanted me- after all, I am clearly not a nature photographer. However, in addition to photos that document all the stunning greenery and organic food our town has to offer, they were actually looking for pictures that captured the spirit of Rosemary Beach… not only do I know Rosemary Beach well, but I absolutely love it, so that’s a job I can gladly do. Shooting these turned out to be so much fun… when you live somewhere and you’re constantly running around instead of taking in the scenery, you don’t really appreciate it. Grabbing camera and snapping photos of all the little nooks and crannies around town helped me to look at Rosemary Beach with a fresh pair of eyes. Eventually I got a little carried away… clearly I ended up taking waaaaay more than the magazine needed…

Next time you’re in Barnes and Noble, pick up a copy of the Feb/March issue of Organic Gardening to see some of these in print!
